This newly created role reinforces NEC’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions for government and enterprise clients, as the company continues to accelerate its focus on ushering in a new era of innovation and technology leadership.
Based in Perth – home to NEC’s Australian Centre of Excellence (CoE) in digital government – Sellars’ appointment reflects NEC’s continued investment in the region, strengthening national capability while deepening engagement with customers and partners in Western Australia.
Sellars is a senior IT executive with over 25 years of experience leading in technology strategy, innovation and business transformation. He returns to NEC after previously holding senior roles within the company, including key contributions to NEC’s GovNext program. Most recently, Sellars served as Chief Technology Officer at Datacom, leading national strategic initiatives, digital solutions, and technology-led service evolution.
With deep expertise in technology strategy, commercial management, architecture, and IT service innovation, Sellars is well-positioned to lead NEC’s technology direction into the future.
Keith Morrison, Senior Vice President – Digital Government | Digital Finance at NEC Australia, said Sellars’ appointment is a key step in NEC’s broader strategy to strengthen its technology strategy and innovation capabilities:
“The appointment of Mike Sellars as Vice President of our newly created Chief Technology Office underscores NEC’s commitment to our next era of technology leadership and innovation in Australia. “With his extensive expertise, industry knowledge, and proven track record, Mike will be instrumental in shaping NEC’s technology direction and delivering high-value, future-ready solutions for our clients.”
As Vice President – Chief Technology Office, Sellars will oversee solution development, advance NEC’s architecture practice and drive the evolution of NEC’s digital and managed services offerings. Sellars said: “NEC has a strong legacy of delivering innovative, high-impact technology solutions, and I’m excited to build on that foundation.
“With a focus on driving technology strategy and enhancing NEC’s digital and managed services, I look forward to working with the team on transformative solutions for our customers.”
Sellars’ appointment is part of NEC’s broader strategy to strengthen its senior leadership team, positioning the company for its next phase of growth and innovation. In recent months, NEC has welcomed several senior leaders, including Godwin Chai as Head of Sales Australia and Lynne Barry as Vice President of Legal & Compliance, following the retirement of Paul Reed. These appointments underscore NEC’s commitment to building a world-class leadership team to meet the evolving needs of its clients.
