What’s it like to work at NEC?

Renee Schuring

Legal Counsel

NEC has been a fantastic employer to me over the past 10 years, particularly as a new parent. NEC supported me throughout my pregnancy allowing me to work up until 38 weeks. I felt like I was still engaged and treated as a valued contributing employee right up until the commencement of my maternity leave. The clear Paid Parental Leave Policy helped me budget for my new family and allowed me to stay at home and spend more time getting to know my baby.

When it was time to return to work, my return to work was made easier as a result of the flexible work conditions including varied start and finish times and the ability to work from home where required. The flexibility was a great benefit as I learned to balance my competing priorities. Perhaps the greatest part about working at NEC though was returning to work with supportive colleagues who helped me to regain my confidence in the workplace. I would recommend NEC as an employer of choice.

Daniella Forgione

Systems Engineer

I like working at NEC because it has given me the opportunity to further upskill myself and develop my IT knowledge to move from my Desktop Technician position into a Systems Engineer role. NEC is continuously assisting in providing further training and certifications I need to further my IT career and knowledge.

I’m also proud to work for an organisation that has increased the number of women joining the IT industry. I commenced NEC as one of the only females in my department and I can now gladly say there are multiple females and I continuously see more and more joining this industry. I am very grateful with the opportunities NEC has provided me with, starting as a graduate with no experience within the industry to now be a Systems Engineer in training.

David Saliba

General Manager

I doubt anyone joins an organisation like NEC with a plan to turn it into a 20-year adventure, yet here I find myself. It is therefore no surprise when I am asked the inevitable question of what it is exactly that keeps me at NEC. I often point to opportunities to learn and work on new technologies and the associated excitement of implementing some world-first NEC deployments that delivered great outcomes for clients. Or the ongoing support and trust placed in all staff to contribute ideas and influence NEC’s go-to-market direction. Of course being part of an organisation that is both a technology vendor and service provider with such a diverse customer base means there is never a dull moment.

Above all, however, it is the people. I am privileged to work with some amazingly talented people, many of whom I consider to be both colleagues and friends and it is NEC’s ongoing commitment to investing in its people that will pave the way for a bright future. I look forward to continuing to be part of NEC as we continue “Orchestrating a brighter world”.

Sam Senaratne

Business Development Manager

I joined NEC NT team in 2012 and have since enjoyed working with the organization. As the NEC’s only BDM in the NT, my role is somewhat unique at NEC. It involves, Business Development, Solutions Consultancy and Project Management. This provides a mix of challenges and the opportunity to work with multiple ICT technologies developed by NEC as well as our Vendor Partners. Finding solutions to these challenges have always motivated me to thrive within and with the organization. The access you gain to different areas of technology solutions in the industry and use of those to provide successful solutions to customer requirements is the success any technologist looks to achieve, NEC certainly provides that platform to all employees.

The team at NEC is a great network with multicultural personalities from across the globe working together in unison. The beauty of this is, the network you are part of is not limited to Australia, it is open for you globally to explore. I am also thankful to the fact NEC is a flexible and understanding employer of employee circumstance, this has allowed me to manage time with my young family and succeed at my work too.
